SUMMARY:Buffalo Farmer's Market — Clinton-Bailey Farmer's & Flea Market
DESCRIPTION:The Niagara Frontier Growers Co-operative Market\, Inc. was born in October 1930. The objectives of the co-op were to promote\, foster and encourage the intelligent and orderly marketing of agricultural products between producer and consumer. The co-op was also formed to make the distribution of agricultural products between producer and consumer as direct and efficient possible. \nNiagara Frontier Growers leased the land from the railroad until the 1950’s when it then purchased the land. Over the years \, the Market became known as the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market and has become a vital link in Western New York’s food distribution. \nOver the years\, many Western New York farmers and growers have brought some of the finest locally grown products to the Market for distribution. Some farmers traveled more than 2 hours to sell their goods at the Market. In the early years of the Market many of the farmers would transport their goods by horse and buggy! \nToday\, the location of the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market is central within the growing region and central within the “food distribution hub” of the City of Buffalo. Hundreds of thousands of customers pass through the Market each year to purchase fresh locally grown goods direct from the farmer insuring healthy eating and savings to the end consumer. \nThe Market has also become a desired destination for those looking to purchase flowers\, vegetable plants\, herbs\, shrubs and Christmas Trees. Many wholesale buyers include major grocers\, institutions\, neighborhood markets\, restaurants\, caterers\, garden centers and other farm market stands that come to the Market every Tuesday\, Thursday and Saturday morning as early as 4:00 AM. \nCLINTON BAILEY MARKET\n1443 – 1517 Clinton Street\nBuffalo\, NY 14206

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: 'In Between Two Tall Mountains' and 'Breathing In and Out'
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Arts Studio is pleased to present In Between Two Tall Mountains by Gabrielle Hall and Breathing In and Out by Brianna Bernas\, concurrent exhibitions by two senior fiber art majors from Buffalo State University that explore concepts of emotional resilience\, adaptability\, and making material the immaterial.  \nThe exhibitions will be on view from April 24 through May 30\, 2026. An artist reception will be held on Saturday\, May 9\, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Both artists will speak briefly about their work starting at 12:00 pm. \nGabrielle Hall’s In Between Two Tall Mountains is a collection of soft sculptures\, weavings\, and collages are an exploration of how fiber can be utilized in ways beyond two-dimensional visuals\, bridging the gap between art and the space it inhabits. Brianna Bernas’ Breathing In and Out is a series of woven and felted pieces that look to the body and nature for symbols of adaptability and strength to challenge notions of emotional resilience and what it means to be “soft” in the face of hardship.  \nFor more information about Buffalo Arts Studio\, please visit www.buffaloartsstudio.org

SUMMARY:Live at the Met: Eugene Onegin
DESCRIPTION:Following her acclaimed 2024 company debut in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly\, soprano Asmik Grigorian returns to the Met as Tatiana\, the lovestruck young heroine in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ardent operatic adaptation of the Pushkin novel. \nBaritone Igor Golovatenko reprises his portrayal of the urbane Onegin\, who realizes his affection for her all too late. The Met’s evocative production\, directed by Tony Award–winner Deborah Warner\, “offers a beautifully detailed reading of … Tchaikovsky’s lyrical romance” (The Telegraph). \nThe Met: Live in HD is the Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award–winning series of opera performances transmitted live from the stage of the Met in New York into movie theaters and event spaces worldwide. The series has made the Met the world’s leading provider of alternative cinema content and the only arts institution with an ongoing global series of this scale. When the series launched in 2006\, the Met was the first arts company to experiment this way. Since then\, the program has expanded\, with more than 32 million tickets sold to date\, and has been seen in virtually every important world capital from Paris to Cairo\, as well as in towns and villages spread across six continents. \nSUNY Fredonia Assistant Professor and Director of Opera Studies Don Marrazzo will lead a brief pre-opera talk and Q&A at this production.  The talk will begin in the theatre at 12:30pm. \nMarrazzo is a former head of the Vocal Studies Department and Professor of Voice at the Musical Horizons Conservatory (MHC) in Athens\, Greece.  He has maintained a teaching studio since 2002 and his students have performed with acclaimed institutions internationally including: the Metropolitan Opera; the Lyric Opera of Chicago; The Dallas Opera; The Glimmerglass Festival; the Santa Fe Opera; Staatsoper Stuttgart; Staatstheater Nürnberg\, Opéra de Lyon; Oper Bonn; Festival d’Aix-en-Provence; the Dutch National Opera; Tiroler Festspiele Erl; the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra\, the Concertgebouw Orchestra; the Philadelphia Orchestra; the American Globe Theatre; and the Richard Rodgers Theatre. \nHe also has served as a judge for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. \nPart of Arts in the Afternoon\, which is sponsored by Dr. James M. & Marcia Merrins\, Live at the Met is underwritten with support from Daniel S. Kaufman and Timothy W. Beaver

SUMMARY:Buffalo Theater: 'On a First Name Basis\,' with Desiderio's at Bobby J's
DESCRIPTION:Join two of Buffalo’s top actors\, Eileen Dugan and Peter Palmisano for an unforgettable evening of laughter\, heart and sharp-tongued charm. ON A FIRST NAME BASIS\, a comedy/drama written by Norm Foster (Canada’s most produced playwright). \nON A FIRST NAME BASIS tells the story of a very successful\, but somewhat reclusive spy novelist who suddenly discovers he knows absolutely nothing about his maid of 33 years\, not even her FIRST NAME. She\, on the other hand\, knows everything about him! He makes it his mission to learn all he can about this woman who has served him for over three decades. \nThrough their conversation\, they embark on a journey of discovery that is heartwarming\, engaging and extremely moving. The dialogue is swift and laugh-out-loud funny. We find ourselves caring about these two separate souls as they emerge from behind the transparent wall of their shared existence. This is a love story\, a social commentary and a mystery tightly wrapped with witty dialogue and vivid imagery.
