SUMMARY:Buffalo Theater: RLTP presents 'Exit Strategy'
DESCRIPTION:Exit Strategy\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoad Less Traveled Productions produced Holter’s smash-hit The Light Fantastic in 2024. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBy Ike Holter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFebruary 20 – March 22 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDirected by Scott Behrend \nStarring Lissette DeJesus-Wrafter\, Diane DiBernardo\, Alex Garcia\, Steven Maiseke\, Gabriella Mckinley\, David Mitchell and Sean Ryan \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPurchase tickets!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe teachers of Tumbldn High School bring mousetraps from home\, they make the toilet paper last\, and they show up for the kids nobody else shows up for. So when the school is slated for closure at the end of the year\, and the weight of the inevitable bears down on the community\, students and teachers alike discover their breaking points. Ricky\, the vice principal\, has stayed firmly on the sidelines for all of the teachers’ previous battles\, but now in the eleventh hour\, he’s compelled to step up with a plan to save the school. Some risk their futures to follow his lead– But does he actually have any idea what he’s doing? Spiked with humor and brimming with fury\, Exit Strategy is an exhilarating call to arms about what we owe each other.

SUMMARY:Buffalo Theater: 'On a First Name Basis\,' with Desiderio's at Bobby J's
DESCRIPTION:Join two of Buffalo’s top actors\, Eileen Dugan and Peter Palmisano for an unforgettable evening of laughter\, heart and sharp-tongued charm. ON A FIRST NAME BASIS\, a comedy/drama written by Norm Foster (Canada’s most produced playwright). \nON A FIRST NAME BASIS tells the story of a very successful\, but somewhat reclusive spy novelist who suddenly discovers he knows absolutely nothing about his maid of 33 years\, not even her FIRST NAME. She\, on the other hand\, knows everything about him! He makes it his mission to learn all he can about this woman who has served him for over three decades. \nThrough their conversation\, they embark on a journey of discovery that is heartwarming\, engaging and extremely moving. The dialogue is swift and laugh-out-loud funny. We find ourselves caring about these two separate souls as they emerge from behind the transparent wall of their shared existence. This is a love story\, a social commentary and a mystery tightly wrapped with witty dialogue and vivid imagery. SUMMARY:Buffalo Theater: ART's 'An Irish Play' at Compass PAC
DESCRIPTION:American Repertory Theater of WNY presents Dan O’Brien’s pointy stick to the eye dramody\, “An Irish Play”\, March 12th through March 28th at the Compass Performing Arts Factory\, 545 Elmwood Avenue\, Buffalo NY. Tickets are $25 General Admission with additional ticket specials available online by visiting ww.artofwny.org. \nAmateur actors in Cork City\, Ireland\, convene at their local pub-theater for the first read-through of a new Irish play. What no one knows yet is that the play has been written by an American. Over the course of the evening the newly assembled cast debates (in typically Irish fashion) the play’s deficiencies and merits\, who will play which part\, and whether or not to do the play at all. Irish and American cultures come into conflict\, old rivalries reignite\, and secrets are revealed as the group struggles toward an understanding of this enigmatic Irish play. What begins as a comedic examination of Irish theatre and identity becomes by evening’s end a character drama of strong emotional force. \nO’Brien keenly captures the dysfunctional relationships found in our theater world. From the insecurities\, imposter syndrome to showmances and needing a dram or two after a rehearsal or show\, “An Irish Play” has it all. If you are or have been involved in a theater as a producer\, director\, stage manager or actor\, this is a must see piece. \nFeaturing a wicked pissah ensemble of Artie nominated actors Trevor Dugan\, Brooke Goergen\, Rick Lattimer\, Michael Starzynski\, alongside theater veteran Catherine Burkhart\, up-and-coming actors John DellaContrada and Robert Humphrey\, this dark-comedy will take out the green in your beer then replace it with cream & whiskey. Boom! Carbomb\, lads & lasses. Buckle up. \nThurs & Friday 7:30 pm performances\nSaturday 5:00 pm performances

SUMMARY:Buffalo Theater: 'The Brothers Size' at Ujima
DESCRIPTION:In the Louisiana bayou\, big brother Ogun Size is hardworking and steady. Younger brother Oshoosi is just out of prison and aimless. Elegba\, Oshoosi’s old prison-mate\, is a mysterious complication. A simple circle defines a world that begins in ritual and evolves into a tough and tender drama of what it means to brother and be brothered. Flights of poetry\, music\, dance and West African mythology combine in a contemporary tale that explores the tenuousness of freedom and the need to belong somewhere\, to something\, to someone.
