SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Hallwalls 52nd Annual Members Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:For the 52nd year in a row\, Hallwalls presents an exhibition of work by our participating Members. \nAs we have done the past five years\, Hallwalls will be awarding two cash prizes for participating artists\, made possible with funds given and raised by family and frieds of Bruce Adams. The Bruce Adams Extemporal Prize honors Bruce (who probably exhibited in more Members Exhibitiontions than any other artist) and in reference to his long-running series of painting entitled Extemporal Suite. \nA prize of $500 will be awarded as “best of show\,” as determined by jurors in a blind\, tiered ranking and a second prize of $300 will be awarded to an artist under 30\, to honor Bruce’s decades of dedication to teaching art to high school students and training teachers at Buffalo State College.

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Rachel Shelton\, 'Slow Looking'
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Arts Studio is thrilled to present Slow Looking\, a new body of work by Rachel Shelton that challenges the negativity so often associated with decay\, uncertainty\, and precarity. Featuring a series of monotypes\, etchings\, collagraphs\, and screenprints of rock forms\, the exhibition is on view from May 22 through August 1\, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Friday\, May 22\, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm as part of M&T Fourth Friday at Tri-Main. \nAll of the rock forms in Slow Looking originate from a single photo of two rocks in a field of glacial deposits that Shelton stumbled upon during a trip to Montana. With adjustments to scale\, orientation\, color\, and surrounding compositions\, the prints invite us to shift between micro and macro perspectives and consider the ecosystems pocketed within a life cycle. Her work documents the passage of time via the life cycle of a rock\, suggests the building blocks of larger structures\, and navigates the network of meaning and connections that form when things fall apart. \nFor more information about Buffalo Arts Studio\, please visit www.buffaloartsstudio.org

SUMMARY:Buffalo Farmer's Market — Clinton-Bailey Farmer's & Flea Market
DESCRIPTION:The Niagara Frontier Growers Co-operative Market\, Inc. was born in October 1930. The objectives of the co-op were to promote\, foster and encourage the intelligent and orderly marketing of agricultural products between producer and consumer. The co-op was also formed to make the distribution of agricultural products between producer and consumer as direct and efficient possible. \nNiagara Frontier Growers leased the land from the railroad until the 1950’s when it then purchased the land. Over the years \, the Market became known as the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market and has become a vital link in Western New York’s food distribution. \nOver the years\, many Western New York farmers and growers have brought some of the finest locally grown products to the Market for distribution. Some farmers traveled more than 2 hours to sell their goods at the Market. In the early years of the Market many of the farmers would transport their goods by horse and buggy! \nToday\, the location of the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market is central within the growing region and central within the “food distribution hub” of the City of Buffalo. DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nNick Lowe & Los Straitjackets \nWednesday\, July 22\, 2026 \n$50.00 + Online Fee \n5pm Doors\, 7pm Showtime \nRain or Shine\, Bring a chair. \n \n \n \n \nPhoto credit: Dave Brolan \n \nNick Lowe \nNick Lowe has made his mark as a producer (Elvis Costello-Graham Parker-Pretenders-The Damned)\, songwriter of at least three songs you know by heart\, short-lived career as a pop star\, and a lengthy term as a musicians’ musician. But in his current ‘second act’ as a silver-haired\, tender-hearted but sharp-tongued singer-songwriter\, he has no equal. \nStarting with 1995′s ‘The Impossible Bird’ through to 2011′s ‘The Old Magic\,’ Nick has turned out a fantastic string of albums\, each one devised in his West London home\, and recorded with a core of musicians who possess the same veteran savvy. Lowe brings wit and understated excellence to every performance\, leading Ben Ratliff of the New York Times to describe his live show as “elegant and nearly devastating.” \n \nIn 2024 he released his latest record ‘Indoor Safari\,’ a collaboration with Los Straitjackets. \nLos Straitjackets \nLos Straitjackets are the leading practitioners of the lost art of the guitar instrumental. Using the music of the Ventures\, The Shadows\, and with Link Wray and Dick Dale as a jumping off point\, the band has taken their unique\, high energy brand of original rock & roll around the world. Clad in their trademark Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling masks\, the “Jackets” have delivered their trademark guitar licks to 16 albums\, thousands of concerts and dozens of films and TV shows. \n \nTheir latest album ‘Somos Los Straitjackets’ was released in 2025. “The quartet’s time-warped expertise shines through on track after track” – Shindig! SUMMARY:Buffalo Arts: Artist Talk — Bridging Acts: A Dialogue in Motion and Media
DESCRIPTION:This talk will feature both artists discussing their individual practices and the upcoming one-day Bridging Acts performance — including process\, preparation\, challenges\, and insights. \nRelated Events:\nPerformance Venue: UB Center for the Arts – Black Box Theatre\nSaturday\, July 25\, 6:30–7:45 PM \nArtist Talk #2 – AKG\nThursday\, July 23 | 1:00–2:30 PM\, Buffalo AKG Art Museum – Stanford and Judith Lipsey Auditorium \nFeatured artists: Alexandra Light (choreographer/dancer) and Clayton Colin (video artist/editor) \nArtists Bios\n \nAlexandra Light is a choreographer and dancer who integrates a ballet background into contemporary work that questions and redefines tradition. After over a decade as a Principal Dancer with Texas Ballet Theater\, she is now focused exclusively on her choreographic practice. Her work has been commissioned by and created for Texas Ballet Theater\, the Steps on Broadway Conservatory\, Martha Graham Dance Company through a Texas Ballet Theater mainstage commission\, Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre\, and more. Her choreography has been presented at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth\, the Battery Dance Festival\, and the Ailey Citigroup Theater\, and developed through residencies including Jacob’s Pillow and the Frank Lloyd Wright Martin House. Her work centers on diasporic history\, environmental memory\, and layered identity\, drawing from an academic background in psychology and a commitment to social practice. \n \nClayton Colin is a video editor/animator with extensive post-production experience (Premiere\, After Effects\, Blender)\, supporting the core premise of the project: rapid transformation of live footage into a mediated “echo.” \n \nAbout the Director\n \nLéwuga Tata Benson is an interdisciplinary media artist\, filmmaker\, and director whose work explores the intersections of memory\, environmental trauma\, cultural identity\, and the mediated body. Rooted in his Ogoni heritage in the Niger Delta of Nigeria\, Benson’s practice examines how landscapes\, histories\, and personal narratives are transformed — and sometimes distorted — through the technologies we use to witness them. Working across moving-image installation\, sound\, performance\, and sculptural media\, he creates immersive environments that invite viewers to inhabit the emotional and political tensions embedded in overlooked or vulnerable communities. \nBenson is the director of Bridging Acts: A Dialogue Between Motion and Media\, a NYSCA-funded interdisciplinary performance project that brings together contemporary dance and live video to explore embodiment\, surveillance\, and memory through collaborative practice. \nHe holds an MFA in Media Arts Production from the University at Buffalo\, where he developed a hybrid approach grounded in experimental filmmaking\, immersive installation\, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. His work has been exhibited at Buffalo Arts Studio\, CEPA Gallery\, the University at Buffalo Art Department Gallery\, and the New York State Summer School for the Arts (NYSSSA)\, among others.

Hundreds of thousands of customers pass through the Market each year to purchase fresh locally grown goods direct from the farmer insuring healthy eating and savings to the end consumer. \nThe Market has also become a desired destination for those looking to purchase flowers\, vegetable plants\, herbs\, shrubs and Christmas Trees. Many wholesale buyers include major grocers\, institutions\, neighborhood markets\, restaurants\, caterers\, garden centers and other farm market stands that come to the Market every Tuesday\, Thursday and Saturday morning as early as 4:00 AM. \nCLINTON BAILEY MARKET\n1443 – 1517 Clinton Street\nBuffalo\, NY 14206
