SUMMARY:Buffalo Literature: Author Event – Erricka Willard at Burning Books
DESCRIPTION:Utilizing my conflicting truths and heartfelt inspirational reflections to heal and connect God’s family\nI wish to transform millions of lives: moving people from fear to faith and understanding\, bringing healing\, embracing\, and allowing the love of self first.\nThis is a collection of the many emotions that I battled with for years\, including while I was depressed and suffering from heartache\, amongst other things. It is not meant for you to read this book as a chapter book\, reading from cover to cover\, chapter to chapter\, from the beginning to the end. I purposely wrote it so that you could go directly to the table of contents and locate the chapter title that resonates with you and where you are in your journey in life right now. After you read over the titles of the chapters\, you will know exactly where you need to begin your healing journey.

SUMMARY:Buffalo Theater: ART's 'An Irish Play' at Compass PAC
DESCRIPTION:American Repertory Theater of WNY presents Dan O’Brien’s pointy stick to the eye dramody\, “An Irish Play”\, March 12th through March 28th at the Compass Performing Arts Factory\, 545 Elmwood Avenue\, Buffalo NY. Tickets are $25 General Admission with additional ticket specials available online by visiting ww.artofwny.org. \nAmateur actors in Cork City\, Ireland\, convene at their local pub-theater for the first read-through of a new Irish play. What no one knows yet is that the play has been written by an American. Over the course of the evening the newly assembled cast debates (in typically Irish fashion) the play’s deficiencies and merits\, who will play which part\, and whether or not to do the play at all. Irish and American cultures come into conflict\, old rivalries reignite\, and secrets are revealed as the group struggles toward an understanding of this enigmatic Irish play. What begins as a comedic examination of Irish theatre and identity becomes by evening’s end a character drama of strong emotional force. \nO’Brien keenly captures the dysfunctional relationships found in our theater world. From the insecurities\, imposter syndrome to showmances and needing a dram or two after a rehearsal or show\, “An Irish Play” has it all. If you are or have been involved in a theater as a producer\, director\, stage manager or actor\, this is a must see piece. \nFeaturing a wicked pissah ensemble of Artie nominated actors Trevor Dugan\, Brooke Goergen\, Rick Lattimer\, Michael Starzynski\, alongside theater veteran Catherine Burkhart\, up-and-coming actors John DellaContrada and Robert Humphrey\, this dark-comedy will take out the green in your beer then replace it with cream & whiskey. Boom! Carbomb\, lads & lasses. Buckle up. \nThurs & Friday 7:30 pm performances\nSaturday 5:00 pm performances

SUMMARY:Buffalo Farmer's Market — Clinton-Bailey Farmer's & Flea Market
DESCRIPTION:The Niagara Frontier Growers Co-operative Market\, Inc. was born in October 1930. The objectives of the co-op were to promote\, foster and encourage the intelligent and orderly marketing of agricultural products between producer and consumer. The co-op was also formed to make the distribution of agricultural products between producer and consumer as direct and efficient possible. \nNiagara Frontier Growers leased the land from the railroad until the 1950’s when it then purchased the land. Over the years \, the Market became known as the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market and has become a vital link in Western New York’s food distribution. \nOver the years\, many Western New York farmers and growers have brought some of the finest locally grown products to the Market for distribution. Some farmers traveled more than 2 hours to sell their goods at the Market. In the early years of the Market many of the farmers would transport their goods by horse and buggy! \nToday\, the location of the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market is central within the growing region and central within the “food distribution hub” of the City of Buffalo. Hundreds of thousands of customers pass through the Market each year to purchase fresh locally grown goods direct from the farmer insuring healthy eating and savings to the end consumer. \nThe Market has also become a desired destination for those looking to purchase flowers\, vegetable plants\, herbs\, shrubs and Christmas Trees. Many wholesale buyers include major grocers\, institutions\, neighborhood markets\, restaurants\, caterers\, garden centers and other farm market stands that come to the Market every Tuesday\, Thursday and Saturday morning as early as 4:00 AM. \nCLINTON BAILEY MARKET\n1443 – 1517 Clinton Street\nBuffalo\, NY 14206

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: AP Gorny — 'Different from the Rest' at Central Library
DESCRIPTION:The Rare Book Room of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library is honored to acquire and exhibit a selection of artist books and prints made by AP (Anthony Peter) Gorny. Printmaker\, photographer\, sculptor\, bookmaker\, performer — none of these definitions truly capture AP as an artist. A graduate of SUNY Buffalo State University and Yale University’s School of Art\, AP’s artwork is in over 50 institutional collections\, including the Vatican Library\, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum\, and the Library of Congress. \nThough many of AP’s professional accomplishments extend far beyond Buffalo\, he is a product of this city. AP was born into the insular Polish communities of Buffalo in the mid-twentieth century. When he finally ventured beyond his neighborhood\, the expansive cultural experiences available to him in Buffalo helped shape the artist he was to become. Using oral histories\, digitized materials from Buffalo’s cultural institutions\, and the artist’s own work\, the Library’s Special Collections Department has woven the disparate pieces of AP’s career to show an artist formed in a specific place and moment\, working outside established channels to create a world for himself. \nThe exhibit AP Gorny: Different from the Rest will showcase artist books recently acquired by the Library’s Rare Book Department in close cooperation with AP\, as well as never-before-seen archival documentation and video footage made available through the digitization efforts of the Grosvenor Room. \nSee https://www.buffalolib.org/locations-hours/central-downtown-buffalo for hours. \nOpening reception at Central Library on January 29\, 2026 from 5:30 pm–8:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided; the curator and artist will be present to talk about the exhibit. Details: https://buffalolib.libcal.com/event/16084892

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Stitch Buffalo\, "Zero Waste"
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Arts Studio is excited to present Zero Waste\, an exhibition of textile work created from reclaimed materials by Stitch Buffalo refugee and immigrant artists and volunteers\, on view from February 27 through April 11\, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Friday\, February 27\, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm as part of M&T Fourth Friday at Tri-Main. \nZero Waste explores how discarded textiles can be transformed into vibrant works of art by combining sustainable practices with artistic creativity. Textile waste and clothing production continue to have a major impact on the environment. The fast fashion industry remains one of the largest consumers and polluters of water—and a major contributor to carbon emissions each year. This environmental impact is connected to the industry’s linear economy: make\, use\, and then discard. \nAbout Stitch Buffalo\nStitch Buffalo is a comprehensive textile art center committed to empowering refugee and immigrant women through the sale of their handcrafted goods\, inspiring creativity and inclusion through community education\, and stewarding the environment through the re-use of textile supplies.  \nFor more information\, please visit www.buffaloartsstudio.org

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Marjan Khorramgolkaran\, 'Landless'
DESCRIPTION:Landless is a body of work that explores the intersection of material and meaning through contemporary mixed-media art\, centered on the concept as a metaphor for the fluidity of identity. The project is informed by my personal experience of migration and displacement and examines how identity and a sense of belonging are continuously shaped and transformed through our relationship with place — much like water\, which is perpetually in motion and flux. \nThis collection is further shaped by my current life in Buffalo\, a city defined by the flow of the Erie River\, as well as by memories of growing up near a large lake. These lived experiences intersect with frameworks of psychogeography\, place-memory\, and displacement\, all of which continue to inform and shape my artistic practice. \nNature\, in its entirety\, is in a constant state of movement \ntransformation; this dynamic quality weaves together material\, time\, and lived experience. Water\, as one of the fundamental elements of nature\, functions not only as a direct metaphor for the fluidity of identity and the condition of being landless\, but also as a cosmic substance whose origins extend beyond earthly boundaries. Moving across continents through its natural cycle\, water becomes a mirror reflecting my personal experience of geographic displacement. \nThe series presents various states of water\, ranging from stillness to turbulent waves\, through two large-scale installations\, a drawing\, and a stop-motion video. In one of the large-scale installations\, I used the cyanotype technique on paper and collaged the prints onto more than one thousand pieces of wood\, forming a symbolic reference to Niagara Falls. In the cyanotype process to produce this artwork\, glass played a crucial role in transforming the drawing on paper\, and because the process itself unfolds in liquid\, this work led me to develop a new approach using glass in a subsequent large-scale installation. \nLike water\, glass exists in a fluid and unstable state through processes such as blowing\, casting\, and collage. Moreover\, both glass and water also possess reflective properties capable of mirroring their surroundings. This shared quality deepens their conceptual connection and invites the viewer into a space of introspection and mental reflection. I therefore chose glass as the primary material and as a direct metaphor for water in the second large-scale installation. \nIn front of this installation\, and at the center of a space scaled to match the size of glass artwork\, a small drawing featuring the same pattern will be displayed\, emphasizing the original idea and the transformation from the original drawing to the large-scale glass installation. \n  \n\nArtist Bio\nMarjan Khorramgolkaran is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Tehran\, and currently based in Buffalo\, New York. She is actively engaged in the Western New York arts community while pursuing her second Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree at the University at Buffalo\, SUNY. She holds a master’s degree in Painting and a bachelor’s degree in Textile and Fashion Design from the University of Art in Tehran. \nMarjan’s artistic practice translates nature and the concept of “land” into a visual language. She approaches her subjects from an anthropological perspective rather than through emotional attachment alone\, challenging conventional notions of landscape while exploring the dimensions of place\, identity\, and belonging. Her work incorporates a wide range of materials and techniques\, including drawing\, painting\, photography\, experimental 16mm film\, ceramics\, jewelry making\, and sculpture\, to examine these concepts. \nHer professional trajectory includes significant achievements in teaching\, exhibitions\, and research. She has extensive experience teaching in academic settings\, including the SUNY University at Buffalo\, and has participated as an invited artist in several residencies\, such as the Bethany Arts Community in Ossining\, NY\, and the Openings Residency in Lake George\, NY. In addition\, she has served as a selected juror for multiple art competitions. Her work has been exhibited widely and published in international books\, catalogs\, and magazines. \nRecent selected exhibitions include the Sylvia L. Rosen Craft Art Biennial 2025-2026 at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo\, New York\, the Punto y Raya Festival 2025 Competition in Sofia\, Bulgaria (Selected Artist out of over 600 eligible submissions from 57 countries)\, the Annual Golden Ticket Exhibition 2025 at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center in Cincinnati\, Ohio (Selected Artist out of over 400 eligible submissions)\, I’M SCARED TOO Group Exhibition 2025 at the Bethany Arts Community in Ossining\, New York\, Brockport Art Festival 2025 in Brockport\, New York\, 2025 Regional 90 at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Cincinnati\, Ohio\, 2025 Media Study Student Show Project at the SUNY University at Buffalo\, New York\, First Annual Art Show 2025 at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Cincinnati\, Ohio\, Group Exhibition 2025 at CEPA Art Gallery in Buffalo\, New York\, 2024 Printmakers Showcase at PGNY (Printmakers Guild of New York) in Troy\, New York\, Exchange Group Exhibition 2021 at the Academie Voor Beeldende Kunsten in Ghent\, Belgium\, and more. \nMarjan has also received multiple scholarships and awards supporting her ongoing artistic research and practice in the United States\, including First and Second Place in the Jewelry and Sculpture sections at the 57th Annual Keuka Lake Art Show in 2025\, Second Place in the Jewelry section at the 56th Annual Keuka Lake Art Show in 2024\, First Place for Young Filmmakers across Iran for her video art in 2013\, among others.

SUMMARY:Buffalo Literature: Author Event - Narcissia Netal
DESCRIPTION:Book signing and reading by local author Narcissia Netal.  Books are “Face To Face With The Reaper” and “Face To Face With God” \nNarcissia Netal (Formerly Andi Galupa) is a writer from Lockport New York\, and at Eighteen years old\, has already published eight to nine books (depending on what you count)\, at the time of writing this! Her goal is to write and publish a book a season and build worlds out of these books. She also makes soundtracks or some sort of music with each and every book\, to add to the atmosphere that world presents! Often focusing on the darker walks of life\, you are sorely mistaken if you come at it from genre- because the concept and the philosophy is what dominates all. The work is meant to be consumed\, not just read (although reading is still okay!)\, and each “fictional” story tells a “non-fictional” concept\, developing further ideas and themes\, often focusing on purpose and not comfortability. This isn’t made for commerciality\, but for the enjoyment and analyzation\, a work that you can lose yourself in further and further through paragraphs of either bleak nihilism or inspiring hope. She pushes to always tell a theme or idea\, and present you with a question to consider or to think on\, no matter how uncomfortable.
