SUMMARY:Buffalo Community: Woodshop Orientation — Safety Class
DESCRIPTION:In this orientation & safety class\, you’ll get hands-on experience with all of the major power tools in The Foundry’s Woodshop — including the jointer\, planer\, miter saw\, band saw\, router\, and sander. By the end of class\, you’ll have a strong understanding of how to safely use the woodshop and its tools. Plus\, you’ll make your very own cheese board to take home! \n  \nWhat You Will Learn: \n\nWoodshop safety rules and best practices\nHow to safely operate the jointer and planer\nHow to use the miter saw and band saw\nHow to shape and smooth your work with the router and sander\nHow to plan and complete a woodworking project from start to finish\n\n  \nUpon completion\, and with a pay-what-you-can donation to The Foundry\, you’ll be eligible to use our Makerspaces during Open Maker Hours (Mondays 6–9pm & Saturdays 9am–1pm) to continue building your skills and work on personal projects with support from our trained supervisors. \n  \n*** Please arrive at least 10 minutes before class starts to fill out the liability waiver *** \n  \nSafety: Close toed shoes are required.PPE such as masks\, eye and ear protection will be provided. \n  \nClass Cost: $100 (materials fee included) \n  \nClass Size: Min 4/ Max 6 \n  \nAges: 18+ \n  \nNotice: This class needs to meet the minimum enrollment in order to run. Participants will be notified of cancellation the Monday prior to the class if needed.
