SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Post Event Celebration for Live on Five
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Arts Studio invites you to the Post Event Celebration for Live on Five on Friday\, April 24\, from 5–8 pm\, part of M&T Fourth Fridays. This event is free and open to the public. \nThe party’s not over yet! Guests are invited to pick up their winnings from the Live on Five auction and enjoy a free performance by a quintet from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. The BPO will begin their performance at 6:00 pm and play for approximately 30 minutes. The quintet includes Henry Ward on Oboe\, Natalie Scanio on Flute\, Will Amsel on Clarinet\, Natalya Rose Vrbsky on Bassoon and Sophia Filippone on Horn.  \nAdditionally\, guests can meet with Five Points Framing\, who will be offering custom framing on the spot. On display will be In Between Two Tall Mountains by Gab Hall and Breathing In and Out by Brianna Bernas\, concurrent exhibitions by two senior fiber art majors from Buffalo State University that explore concepts of emotional resilience\, adaptability\, and making material the immaterial. Volunteers from Live on Five are encouraged to join us to celebrate all of their hard work to make this event successful\, and will receive one free drink as a token of our appreciation.

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Stitch Buffalo\, "Zero Waste"
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Arts Studio is excited to present Zero Waste\, an exhibition of textile work created from reclaimed materials by Stitch Buffalo refugee and immigrant artists and volunteers\, on view from February 27 through April 11\, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Friday\, February 27\, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm as part of M&T Fourth Friday at Tri-Main. \nZero Waste explores how discarded textiles can be transformed into vibrant works of art by combining sustainable practices with artistic creativity. Textile waste and clothing production continue to have a major impact on the environment. The fast fashion industry remains one of the largest consumers and polluters of water—and a major contributor to carbon emissions each year. This environmental impact is connected to the industry’s linear economy: make\, use\, and then discard. \nAbout Stitch Buffalo\nStitch Buffalo is a comprehensive textile art center committed to empowering refugee and immigrant women through the sale of their handcrafted goods\, inspiring creativity and inclusion through community education\, and stewarding the environment through the re-use of textile supplies.  \nFor more information\, please visit www.buffaloartsstudio.org

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Victoria-Idongesit Udondian\, “Nsinam me ke ndi Owo”
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Arts Studio is thrilled to present Nsinam me ke ndi Owo\, a solo exhibition by international artist Victoria-Idongesit Udondian. Featuring a multisensory installation of mixed-media works spanning textile\, sculpture\, video\, and sound\, the exhibition will be on view from January 23 through March 14\, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Friday\, January 23\, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm as part of M&T Fourth Friday at Tri-Main. \nThe exhibition immerses viewers in a dimly lit gallery populated by suspended shrouds of repurposed fabric\, cast from human forms and hovering above beds of flowers and hands reaching upward toward their silhouettes. These floating bodies are animated by projected video of ocean waves and enveloping sound\, scattering light across their forms. Central to the exhibition is How Can I Be Nobody\, a 10-minute video created in collaboration with immigrant communities in the New York area. The work weaves together personal testimony\, news media\, and archival footage to examine migration\, labor\, and post-colonial histories.  \nFor more information about Buffalo Arts Studio\, please visit www.buffaloartsstudio.org

SUMMARY:Buffalo Art: Millie Chen\, "Turbulence"
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Arts Studio is pleased to present Turbulence\, a series of drawings by artist Millie Chen\, on view from January 23 through March 14\, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Friday\, January 23\, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm as part of M&T Fourth Friday at Tri-Main. \nThis new series of drawings emerges from years of Chen walking along both banks of the Onguiaahra (Haudenosaunee) or Niagara River and gazing in awe at its flow. These drawings focus on river sites that have historic and symbolic significance\, embodied in the turbulence created by disturbances under the water’s surface.   \nAll of the drawings are linked by the use of grids. Chen harnesses the grid as a structural and theoretical device for creating complex\, contemplative images\, tapping into it as a powerful generative mechanism where each part and the whole are interconnected  The grid is used to both retain and release control\, embracing unpredictability and “errors” to express the uncertainty of being human. The rigid grid structure\, paired with the unstable imagery\, invites chance and intuition.  \nFor more information about Buffalo Arts Studio\, please visit www.buffaloartsstudio.org
