The Funk Knights

U-Lock

Buffalo Punk branching out to the electronic side of fast-paced dancin’ tunes, via selections of house&techno, disco, electro and beyond. U-Lock grew up a punk kid, questioning authority at every turn, amid the decades-long depression in the Notch of the Rust Belt that is Buffalo, NY. After years spent attending underground DIY house shows and hanging out in abandoned buildings and cuts of land, it only made sense to move in the direction of attending warehouse parties with electronic music and keeping with the allure of the underground.

Punk rock and electronic dance music go hand-in-hand in her opinion. Both often consist of fast-paced, heavy driving beats and riffs that get your body moving, and simultaneously create space for the oddballs and weirdos, shaping a community for those ostracized few. As such, moving from basement shows to warehouse parties was a very comfortable transition.
Instead of moshing, a new and exciting release through intentional dancing was learned.

With the help of local DJ friends, U-Lock was able to hop behind the decks to get a feel for the craft. A student of dance music for years through attending many local functions, U-Lock was often pegged “the last one standing” after dancing for endless hours, whenever and wherever music was heard. She is excited to share her soul through a blend of funky, ethereal, and hypnotic beats with all who care to listen.
