Infringement ’25: Day 7 … music at Eugene V. Debs Hall

By Lindsay DePietro

Most of today’s (Wednesday, July 30) Infringement excitement took place at Eugene V. Debs Hall with a lineup of seven performers who made the small corner of the restored saloon their stage for the night.

First up was Burgundy Red with his atmospheric harsh noise project. He said that this project reflects his struggles with his mental health and religion. When I tell you these harsh noises were loud, I mean extremely loud.

Next up was performer Seamus Donnelly performing his musical project, “No Time To Think.” Accompanying him on the drums was Glenn Noworyta. Some songs featured Donnelly singing and playing the acoustic guitar, and for others he played the harmonica and guitar simultaneously. Although he dropped the harmonica during one of his songs, he persevered through.

After Donnelly and Noworyta, Sonic Archaeology took to the spotlight and plucked away at his Oud. I’ve never heard of this instrument or seen it played (it’s an 11-string, lute-like instrument of Arabic tradition, considered one of the oldest kinds of string instruments) so it was an intriguing performance and learning experience for me.

Then emo rap artist Detritvs was next in the lineup. Before he began to perform, he took the opportunity to share with this audience about how he recently lost two people close to him due to tragic circumstances. All of his songs shared other sad stories or hard times in his life. Detritvs reminded the audience that you never know what someone is going through, so always check up on people.

I unfortunately had to miss out on the last three performances by Sonic Wranglers, Regional Headbutting Techniques and The Polyester Friends, but an intimate crowd of Infringement lovers filled the burgundy leather bar stools and worn wooden seats to watch the artists express themselves through music.
