Buffalo Area Poetry & Literature Calendar (week of Sept. 8 to Sept. 14)
Readings at Fitz Books, Squeaky Wheel Film and Media Arts Center, and Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo headline this week’s literary calendar.
Monday, Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m.: Music & Poetry at Fitz: An evening of music and poetry with NYC-based indie-pop-folk singer-songwriter and musician KAZIMI and poets Nico Gargiulo, Aaron Lelito, and Elizabeth Joy Levinson.

Tuesday, Sept. 9, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Tuesdays at Cabernet, monthly open mic poetry and prose reading series hosted by Sinead Tyrone. Cabernet’s Wine Café , 9 N. Ellicott St., Williamsville.
Tuesday, Sept. 9, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Tuesday Night Open Mic Series at the Em Tea Coffeecup Café. All are welcome whether new to poetry or a long-time member of the community. 80 Oakgrove Ave., Buffalo, NY. Free and open to the public.
Thursday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m.: Henry Goldkamp will join Léon Pradeau, Thom Eichelberger-Young, Nick Mass, and Chris Michael in LIMITED PALETTE 06, an evening of poetry, performance, and community sponsored by Blue Bag Press at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 11th at Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center, 2495 Main St., Suite 310, in Buffalo, NY. The event is free and open to the public.
About the author:
Henry Goldkamp (he/they) is an interdisciplinary poet who enjoys clowning boundaries of language, visual art, and sensory performance. He lives in New Orleans, where he hosts the monthly poetry series Splice, acts as intermedia editor of TILT for Tilted House, and teaches experimental poetics, and clown studies at Louisiana State University. His debut collection, Joy Buzzer, is forthcoming from Ricochet Editions in September 2025. Recent art, criticism, and performance appear in Chicago Review, Annulet, VOLT, Poetry Northwest, Accelerants: An Action Books Poetry Film Series, Triquarterly, Afternoon Visitor, Hot Pink, and DIAGRAM, among others.
Friday, Sept. 12, 7 p.m.: Ground & Sky Poetry Open Mic in Bidwell Park hosted by Joel Lesses. Elmwood Avenue at Bidwell Avenue, Buffalo. Free and open to the public.
Saturday, Sept. 13, Noon to 2:30 p.m.: International Open Poetry Reading Series co-hosted by Perry Nicholas and Verneice Turner. Join poets Irene Sipos and Perry Nicholas as they read from their recently released collections of poetry, Connections (Sipos) and Island of Your Heart: Poems and Articles 2022-2025 (Nicholas).
