Thursday, Sept. 12, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Closing reception and artist’s talk for FOLLOW ME INTO THE HARNESS OF THE WORLD: An exhibition of new print-based immersive installation work by poet Chris Fritton.
“Follow Me Into The Harness of the World” is a single letterpress poem that has been constructed, deconstructed, and reconstructed through a series of origami-like folds. The resultant series of prints reveal a message on the verge of breaking down and becoming something new as each crease erodes, reshapes, and eradicates letterforms, leaving behind the detritus of language and the residue of meaning. It’s the architecture of language built and unbuilt, then abandoned to translation.
Gallery opens at 6 p.m. Artist’s talk by Fritton begins at 7 p.m. Mirabo Press, 11 Botsford Place, Buffalo. Free and open to the public.
