Hive Highlights: ‘That Which Binds Us’ closing at AKG; Visual meets audio with ‘Cage’

Featuring 15 artists from around the world, ranging from Denmark to Virginia, all brought together through art. That Which Binds Us focuses on today’s, somewhat lost, connection to tradition, culture, history and identity. You can visit this diverse collection for the final few days through Monday, while also checking out everything else the AKG has to offer.

This is a translation of sound to visual media, as a full circle of art. It celebrates the late composer and music theorist John Cage in a multi-screen perspective, focusing on narratives, culture and experiences. The late artist Lawrence Brose runs with the idea of “visual metaphor” in this exhibition.

This senior show highlights 27 artists of all mediums, backgrounds, and skills. Discover what the upcoming generation of artists are creating and support a fantastic local college gallery. Pieces range from Lilly Baer’s steel sculptures inspired by her grandmother to Amari McNair’s photography series exploring color and the human experience in romanticized photographs. Hours for the gallery are T-Th noon to 4 p.m., Friday-Saturday noon to 6 p.m., and Sun noon to 4 p.m.
