Welcome to Hive Highlights; a weekly exhibits roundup from Buffalo Hive. This showcase is meant to point you to gallery openings, ongoing exhibits, closings, artist talks and happenings in the visual arts community of Western New York for the week/end ahead. These lists are not designed to be comprehensive, instead providing a keyhole into the creative hum of our region.

Sometimes artists are healers of history, storytellers, culture sharers and outspoken leaders. These are the artists that make up this powerful exhibition, sharing a story beginning in WNY centuries ago, but still affecting the community today. It’s a story everyone should know, but most importantly learn from and acknowledge. Artists include: Peter B. Jones, Samantha Jacobs, Luanne Redeye, Tami Watt, Patrick Redeye, Randee Spruce, Amanda Lickers, Brody Jimerson, Hayden Haynes (curator), Jocelyn Jones. “We Were At the School. We Were There. We Remember. maps ancestral pain, challenges colonial narratives, and demands a radical reimagining of Indigenous presence and power.” If you miss this reception, make sure to check it out before Oct 5!
