A poem for Juneteenth by Keah Brown

Keah Brown is a writer from Lockport, N.Y.,

She’s the author of three books, the most recent being “The Secret Summer Promise,” a young adult novel (2023). She has also written Sam’s Super Seats, a children’s picture book (2022), and The Pretty One: On Life, Pop Culture, Disability, and Other Reasons to Fall in Love with Me, a book of essays (2019).

Brown is the creator of #DisabledAndCute. Her work has appeared in Teen Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire UK, And The New York Times, among other publications. She has a B.A. in journalism from The State University of New York at Fredonia.
