Wallows are on their way to Buffalo as the viral alternative rockers come to the Queen City this summer.
As a part of Seneca Casinos Outer Harbor Live Concert Series, Wallows will be performing at Terminal B on June 3, 2025.
With over 9.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Wallows is an American indie rock band from Southern California. The group blends alternative jams with yearning lyrics, and has a sensitive, yet confident sound present in each project the group produces.
Band history and discography
The group’s members currently include Braeden Lemasters (guitar and vocals), Cole Preston (drums) and Dylan Minnette (guitar and vocals).
Initially, the Wallows crew met as students enrolled in the GigMasterz program at Keyboard Galleria Music Center in Southern California, and previously included bassist Zack Mendenhall, who amicably left the group in 2017.
In their earliest days, Wallows played in the 2011 Warped Tour under the name “Feaver.” The group actually cycled through a few names, also performing as “The Narwhals” before they settled on “Wallows” back in 2017.
2017 was a big year for the band, as this is also when they released their debut single “Pleaser.”
The group continued to create music, and eventually released what may be their most well-known album “Nothing Happens” in 2019.
This album also held several trending sounds on Tik Tok, where many may recognize the song “Are You Bored Yet?” featuring Clairo, another popular artist, which further launched the group into popularity. It is approaching a billion streams.
“Are You Bored Yet” is a staple of the band’s sensitive vibe, and sounds like it could be part of a soundtrack to a coming of age movie in the 2010s. This same feel is present for much of the “Nothing Happens” album.
Wallows has also been actively releasing music within the past year, with four singles released in 2024. In May 2024, the group released “Model,” their most recent album to date and the namesake of their upcoming “Model & More” tour.
With their newest album, Wallows almost seems to “grow up” with their music, developing more mature themes and lyrics within their songs.
For instance, the complexities of loving someone with anxiety and mental health issues are explored in the song “Bad Dream,” which directly juxtaposes that innocent coming of age concept explored in “Are You Bored Yet?” (although this song, depending on interpretation, could describe the worries of breaking off a relationship that no longer interests you).
“Model” is a high energy album, and holds true to the upbeat, yet serious nature of Wallows’ music.
Wallows has continued to stay busy in these first few weeks of 2025, and released a single titled “Your New Favorite Song” on Jan. 10, 2025.
