Podcast: Anthony Casuccio joins Rockabilly Greg in the Flamingo Lounge
This week’s guest in the Flamingo Lounge, Anthony Casuccio, is not only the President of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, but he was recently inducted as a member of the Class of 2024. Anthony visited the Lounge on March 10, 2025 for a great conversation on his music and the ins and outs of getting your music noticed.
Bio:
Anthony Casuccio was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Williamsville East High School in 1987 and went on to pursue his passion for music. Anthony holds a degree in Sound Recording Technology, which he obtained in 1991 from the prestigious Tonmeister program at SUNY Fredonia. He holds a Master of Science degree from Buffalo State College. This solid foundation laid the groundwork for his illustrious career in the music industry. Professor Casuccio began working at Villa Maria College in 2005 and is currently Chairperson of the Music Department.
New York City and Major Record Labels
In the bustling music scene of New York City, Anthony Casuccio made his mark. Over a span of nine years, he collaborated with major record labels, leaving an indelible impact. His roles included producing, mixing, and remastering over 150 albums—many one-of-a-kind career retrospectives which achieved RIAA gold record status. He had the privilege of working in the studio recording such stars as The Stylistics, Broadway’s own Betty Buckley and the world-famous London Symphony Orchestra. He started Malkin records where he signed and produced the band Unilever featuring Neil Forrester from MTV’s Real World television show.
During Anthony’s time in New York City, he recorded his first album Flying at the Speed of Emotion under the moniker Anthony Joseph. He played throughout New York at legendary clubs like The Bear’s Den, Tramps, and The Red Lion. Anthony had residency for two years at Fitzgerald’s with his band. This upper eastside establishment became a hotspot after being featured on the TV show Friends.

Anthony’s expertise extended beyond remastering. He also had the privilege of working with the iconic London Symphony Orchestra, under the guidance of Charles Gerhardt at London’s Whitfield Studios. Additionally, he co-produced an album alongside the renowned Baltimore producer Louis Mills (Baltimore’s Godfather of Sound).
Sony Music’s Redband Broadcasting
Anthony’s journey led him to San Francisco, where he joined Sony Music’s Redband Broadcasting. There, he spearheaded the construction and management of their audio production department. Anthony engineered and produced live music mixes for the Music Backstage show, featuring platinum-selling artists such as:
- Lifehouse
- Kasey Chambers
- Eliades Ochoa (Buena Vista Social Club)
- Victoria Williams and Mark Olsen (Jayhawks)
- Chuck D
He also recorded lifestyle programming segments with notable guests like Joyce Carol Oates, David Sedaris, Joan Chen, and Joe Satriani. Representing Redband’s new musical promotional tools, Anthony struck deals with other major labels and went on to help create radio campaigns for Pink, Destiny’s Child, Cypress Hill, Train, Aerosmith, Dixey Chicks and Our Lady Peace and Nas.
Advocacy and Continued Success
Anthony’s commitment to the music industry extends beyond production. He actively participates as a member of The Recording Academy (grammy) serving on the board of governors for the San Francisco chapter and was elected to the position of Second Vice President. His involvement includes chairing and contributing to various national committees. He was a fixture for the outreach program Grammy in the Streets that went into local high schools promoting music and literacy.
Anthony has been an ongoing presenter for Buffalo’s Music Is Art and has done numerous music workshops for SUNY Fredonia as a featured alumnus. Anthony has volunteered on many musical projects for WNY Make a Wish Foundation.
Since 2015, Anthony has run a summer recording camp for middle and high school students at Villa Maria College.
Xtream Audio Mastering
In 2001, Anthony founded Xtream Audio Mastering, where he continues to work with artists worldwide. His mastery extends across genres, from Russia to South Africa. Anthony has worked on hundreds of projects. Notably, his collaboration with the group Barton resulted in five songs charting in the top 40 on the Billboard dance charts, with the track “To Call My Own” reaching an impressive number 15. Remixes by top producers like Eddie X, Eric Kupper, Davidson Ospina, and Alex Santer elevated these singles. The Team (featuring songs with Nas and Nate Dogg). Osaka Ramones: Tribute to the Ramones (Shonen Knife). Kenneth Bolton (Louisianna, A Pianist’s Journy), Grammy nominated. Sarah Schuster Ericsson (Night Breeze), Grammy nominated. Joseph Banowetz (Balakirev and Russian Folksong), Grammy nominated. Anthony has endorsement deals with Steinberg, Sony Music Software and currently Magix.
Extreme Branding
In 2003, Anthony started Extreme Branding with advertising guru Mike McNeill and has written and recorded over 100 jingles. They include The Good Feet store, Liberty Medical, Milk times 3, The Vinyl Outlet and Mr. Lawn care. His musical compositions have been used in movies and soap operas.
Buzz Records
Buzz was a record label formed by Steve Kantor and Anthony Casuccio. They primarily signed local artists (The Albrights, Breckenwood, WIT and Make-A-Wish artist Dallas Pace) but signed Taryn Southern (California YouTube influencer) to a song deal and were able to get her placed onto national radio and prominent placement on “then” major streaming platforms.

Restoration Work: Anthony’s restoration work was highlighted in the New York Times when they featured the Naxos reissue of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
Anthony’s music has been featured in publications such as Mix Magazine, Billboard, Gramophone, International Piano, JamSphere, Tuned Loud, Hit On Indie, New Your Times. Business First , Buffalo News, Rock Era Magazine, Punk Rocker, Pop Hits and The Industry Times.
His contributions extend to Independent Musician magazine, where he served as a featured columnist.
Teaching and Authorship
Beyond his prolific career, Anthony is an educator. He imparts his knowledge to aspiring musicians and audio engineers.
Anthony Casuccio’s journey is a testament to passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the art of sound. His legacy resonates through the music he produces, the lives he touches, and the melodies that continue to captivate audiences worldwide. He authored the book: Be Nice. Nice People Can Succeed. A Practical Guide to a Mean World. The book is based on Anthony’s personal and professional experiences where his integrity and choosing the right path helped him succeed.This book led Anthony to a series of speaking engagements and was featured on numerous national radio shows and local TV appearances.
Anthony was inducted into the Williamsville School district’s hall of fame in 2009.

Basement Studio and European Success
Anthony and Lana Marie teamed up to create A&L. Together, they released nine singles, marketing them online with the help of promoters who pitched their songs to some of Europe’s biggest radio stations.
European Success: While the music industry in the United States can be expensive and heavily regulated, the European market proved more accessible for A&L. Seven of their songs managed to break into the Top 40 or better (4 in top 10) on European charts, establishing strong relationships with European-based promoters. A&L’s song Singing My Life Away reached #3 was a was a summer favorite on German and French radio.
Guitar-Driven Sound: Feedback from promoter contacts guided A&L’s efforts in promoting specific tracks. Emphasizing the use of guitars became a significant selling point for their music in Europe.
Anthony Casuccio’s solo career took an unexpected turn when he transformed his Amherst basement into a creative hub. Armed with his own space and equipment, he began producing music that resonated far beyond his local circles. However, his online presence tells a different story. Few people in his daily life realize that he’s a music sensation in Europe. His solo success remains somewhat under the radar, known only to a select few who are genuinely blown away by it.
“Emotional Lockdown” EP:
In 2021, Anthony returned with his first solo effort in over 20 years—the “Emotional Lockdown” EP.
Created during the COVID-19 lockdown, this six-track album served as an outlet for Anthony to express his emotions and deal with isolation . The song Love is the Answer featuring Cynthia Moore reached #8 on the European Indie Charts.
“Friends First”
He is back with new song ‘Friends First and Anthony has Collaborated with Gino Mirizio – international drummer/percussionist based in Toronto and Robin Grandin – a musical powerhouse who played bass and added the catchy harmonies. At its core, Anthony Casuccio’s new single “Friends First” has everything required to become a staple in the modern country genre. Right from the moment that we hear the vibrant sound at the onset of the song, it’s abundantly clear what we’re in for in this three-and-a-half-minute country opus.
“Systematic”
Defying conventions, Casuccio’s musical sensibilities steer into a rather adventurous lane. His work is a melodic medley of pop and EDM, with striking highlights of rock guitar—an impressive experiment that seamlessly bridges his early adoration for the guitar with his newfound love for EDM music.
“What is the Point”
“What Is The Point” is an absolute shimmering highlight of the retro pop and synthwave canon for 2022. It bounces along with such a ferocious momentum by comparison to its genre competitors, it caught me by surprise. It’s addictive with a lively rhythm and a completely infectious melody, as Anthony Casuccio blends crunchy guitars with slapping drums and throbbing basslines. “Lighthouse”:
Anthony’s solo career boasts an impressive feat: four of his songs have charted on European music charts. “Lighthouse” led the way, capturing listeners’ hearts with its catchy melodies and relatable lyrics.
This song achieved significant success, listing on European music charts and garnering attention from music enthusiasts worldwide . It reached #1 on the European Independent Music Charts and received radio play in over 70 countries.
“Into the Light”:
Anthony’s anticipated return came in the form of the electrifying alternative pop/rock anthem “Into the Light”.
This searing piece of experimentation showcased his artistic prowess and resonated with listeners. It hit #23 on the European Independent Music Charts.
A Dad, a Professor, and a Music Star Online
In Buffalo, Anthony wears multiple hats: a dad, a professor (he chairs the music department at Villa Maria College), and a leader as the President of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.
