Borderland Band Camp is a 4-day summer music program for middle-school and high-school teens with a BIG goal—to share the stage with professional musicians for two live performances, culminating in a spot on the Homespun Stage at Borderland Music Festival.

There’s nothing more tantalizing to a musician than a chance at a big stage—and the Homespun Stage at Borderland Music + Arts Festival is pretty dang big. This is a serious opportunity for young musicians to spread their wings.

Building on last year’s success, enthusiasm for this year’s camp was even higher, with 32 students and 9 musical mentors participating. Thanks to the Sportsmen’s Americana Music Foundation, essential scholarship funds were also awarded to deserving students.

Joining me this week as co-host, from the Why Music Matters podcast, is Band Camp mentor and my brother in music, Jeff Miers. We’re also joined by Band Camp student and fellow mentor this year, Xeni.
