The Comedy Buzz: Nicole Byer, René Vaca and more perform in Buffalo
Buffalo Comedy: Local and national comedians alike are hitting the comedy stage in Buffalo soon.

Thursday, Nov. 6
Buffalo Improv House, 255 Great Arrow Ave., Suite 207, Buffalo.
Improv Mixer, a relaxed environment to try out improv or just to watch. Sign-ups at 6:45 p.m., 7 p.m. start. $5 suggested or pay what you can.
Mr. Goodbar, 1110 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, 8 p.m. Free.
Open mic comedy on the second floor. Sign-ups at 7 p.m, hosted by the above average height Bennett Solowski.
Buffalo Comedy Collective, 155 Chandler Street, Buffalo. 7 p.m., tickets $5.
The Comedy Showcase, formerly held at Misuta Chows, is now at the BCC. Host Gian Carlo Misso, Kelsey McCormick, Nate English, David Lundy, Sherman Webb-Middlebrook, Josh Prygon, Cat Mattis, Eric Basile and Johnny Caliente will perform. The event is 18+ recommended due to content.

René Vaca won the 16th annual StandUp NBC competition in 2020 and was featured on Netflix “is a Joke” Festival in 2024. Vaca attributes his honesty in his act to the fact that his father was incarcerated during his childhood.

The term “hardest working person in showbiz” might be overused but not when it comes to Nicole Byer. She can be heard on four podcasts, while starring in several different shows and unfortunately her baking show is done, it brought the term ‘nailed it” back to forefront.
Friday, Nov. 7

Comedy Sportz match-up. Two teams “competitively” play short form improv games with suggestions from the audience, who also decides the winner. 7:30 p.m., tickets $18.
Pointing Fingers, is a game hosted by Holly Golden, where special guests attempt to uncover each other’s secrets with fun and provocative questions. This month’s guests are T.B.A. 9:30 p.m., tickets $18.

“Whose House,” a panel style comedy show that may involve some short form improv. 7 p.m., tickets $12 online, $15 general admission.
Improv Collider, several BIH house teams perform different long-form improv styles. 8:30 p.m., tickets $8 presale, $10 general admission or $5 for students and folks who appreciate a discount.
The New Friday Mixer, same as Thursday’s mixer, just a later time. 9:30 p.m., tickets $5 or pay what you can.

Adam Carolla was one of the first people to get into the podcast business, which proved the perfect genre for his style of complaining about things and then explaining how they should be. The Adam Carolla Show holds the Guinness record for most downloaded podcast.

Ron White or “Tater Salad” if you know him, was part of the “Blue Collar” comedy tour, when theme tours were big. When the Blue Collar crew got a show on Comedy Central, he declined to be in so he could keep touring and telling jokes which says everything you need to know about him. Also, there are very few tickets left so you should buy them now.

Kenan After Dark. Lockport’s stand up comedy show with local comedians, a bar, and a free drink with each ticket. Hosted by Nicky Spin and featuring local comics Jesse Winterhalter, Liz Reaves, and the latest winner of Helium Comedy Club’s “Buffalo’s Funniest” Frank Corbiserie.
Saturday, Nov. 8

Improv Royale: Round Three. A competition based format with three teams performing sets for an audience of judges, who will vote for who they think should make it to the final round. It’s Ladies Night with three female and non-binary troupes set to perform. 8:30 p.m., tickets $18.

Is getting cancelled a thing? Depends on who you ask or maybe how famous you are. Chris D’Elia probably has some theories but I wouldn’t ask him, but he’s performing a one-nighter at 4 p.m. so the answer is somewhere in there.
