The Comedy Buzz, Week of March 7-12, 2025

You have already abandoned your New Year’s resolutions, at least laugh about it by seeing live comedy. 

Friday, March 7 

Helium Comedy Club, 30 Mississippi Street, Buffalo. 7 & 9:30 p.m. Tickets $31.99 – $44.99. 
Dave Smith is a comedian, political commentator, radio and tv personality and a regular guest on The Joe Rogan Experience. Smith also host’s “Part of the Problem,” a libertarian podcast about current events. 

Buffalo Comedysportz, Harlem Road Community Center – Theater,  4255 Harlem Rd, Buffalo, 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15. 

An all-ages improv show where two teams face off against each other playing short form improv games and the audience helps decide the winner. This is the final show at the Community Center before the opening of Buffalo Comedy Collective’s, (home of Comedysportz Buffalo) new venue in Buffalo. 

Magic Beer Bear Cellar, 799 Seneca St., Suite B, Buffalo. 8 p.m., free.

Comedy in the Bear’s Den, six local comics will perform in the heart of Larkinville for free. 

Saturday – Sunday, March 8 – 9

Helium Comedy Club, 30 Mississippi Street, Buffalo. 4 p.m. & 3:30 p.m. Tickets $63.74 – $79.27. 

Marlon Wayans, part of the illustrious show-business Waynes family, added two extra shows after the first four sold out. Wayans has starred in over 20 films but is best known for his roles in “White Chicks” and the “Scary Movie” series which he also co-wrote. 

Saturday, March 8 

Buffalo Improv House, 255 Great Arrow Ave., Suite 207, Buffalo. 7 p.m., tickets starting at $12. 

A Couple of Nerds Trivia Showdown, where the audience competes to win with the best and funniest answers against a cast of improvised characters and villains. A never-before-seen-again game show which will test your trivia knowledge and sense of humor. 

Kenan Center, 433 Locust St., Lockport. 7 p.m., tickets starting at $32.50.

Michael Ian Black started his career with the sketch comedy troupe “The State,” and co-created the T.V. show “Michael & Michael Have Issues.” Black also played Phil Stubbs on NBC’s Ed, and was part of the Wet Hot American Summer franchise.

Asbury Hall at Babeville, 341 Delaware Ave., Buffalo. 8 p.m., tickets starting at $35.

Paula Poundstone has been a professional comic and pioneer since the 80’s. Poundstone was  the first female comic, in its then 73rd year, to perform at the White House Correspondents dinner and first female standup, in its then 5th year, to win the ACE award for Best Comedy Special on Cable television.

Monday, March 10

Tudor Lounge, 335 Franklin Street, Buffalo, 9 p.m. 

Comedy Open Mic Comedy. Sign-ups at 8. 

Tuesday, March 11

Jen Fulwiler hosts the daily talk radio show The Jen Fulwiler Show on SiriusXM network, and her podcast “This Is Jen,” debuted in the iTunes Comedy Top 10. Fulwiler’s special “The Naughty Corner,” is available on Amazon.

Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen Street, Buffalo, 9 p.m. 

Rust Belt Comedy Showcase, Buffalo’s longest running comedy open mic. Free. 

Steel Leaf Brewing, 1488 Hertel Avenue, Buffalo, 7 p.m.

Open Mic Night, a mixed open mic for music, comedy and poetry. Sign-ups 6:30 p.m. Free. 

Wednesday, March 12

Milkies, 522 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo. 

Comedy Open Mic Comedy. Sign-ups at 7, show starts at 9 p.m.

Daphnique Spring, a 2018 Just For Laughs Montreal New Face, stars on Amazon’s “Inside Jokes.” and has been featured on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Spring has toured with Katt Williams on his “Born Again” tour.

Road Less Traveled Productions, 456 Main St., Buffalo, 7:30 p.m., tickets $20.

An improvised two-act play with a cast of experienced improvisers and a special guest, using the set of the current play running at the RLTP. 

Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall, Buffalo State University, 1300 Elmwood Ave. 7 p.m., tickets starting at $41.75

Sam Morril brings “The Errors Tour” to Buffalo State. Morril has performed multiple times on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “The Late, Late Show with James Corden,” and “Conan.” He co-hosts the podcast “We Might Be Drunk” with Mark Normand and his latest special, “Sam Morril: You’ve Changed,” can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
