Video Theatre Review: ‘Game of Love and Chance’ rolls the dice

Buffalo Theater: A very short bit of commedia dell’arte video chicanery

By Steven Brachmann

Buffalo Theater Reviews™ rolled the dice walking into D’Youville Kavinoky Theatre and our bet paid off with “a Sehr gut show, ja!!”

“The Game of Love and Chance” by Pierre Carlet de Marivaux (translated by Stephen Wadsworth) is a yahtzee of a heartfelt commedia dell’arte that gambles with the fortunes of four young lovers faster than you can say “white winged dove.”

Not a single loafer hits the stage as the high-stepping chicanery of this show stilettos its way toward its revealing conclusion. Now running at D’Youville Kavinoky Theatre through Oct. 11!
