Buffalo Area Poetry & Literature Calendar (week of Dec. 1 to Dec. 8)
Wednesday, Dec. 4, 7:30 p.m.: CFI Literary Café Series reading hosted by poet Ryki Zuckerman and featuring poets Charles Case and Sam Magavern at the Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Rd. in Amherst. The event free and open to the public.
Friday, Dec. 6, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: The Buffalo History Museum presents “An Evening with Lauren Belfer,” author of City of Light, a New York Times bestseller, on the 25th anniversary of its publication. The critically-acclaimed novel, based on historical events and figures, unfolds in Buffalo during the 1901 Pan-American Exposition.General admission is $25 ($15 for museum members) for a ticket and includes a pre-show reception with a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres which begins at 6 PM. A VIP ticket costs $50 ($40 for members) and includes a pre-show reception with the author, an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and books available for signing. The VIP pre-event begins at 5:30 PM. Friday, Dec. 6, 6:30 p.m.: Reading and book launch event for Buffalo-based writer Paula Wachowiak’s second book of personal essays Phonographic Memories. The book will be available at a discounted price of $15.00 (Original price $18.00) at the event. This event is free and open to the public. Westside Stories Used Books, 398 Grant St., Buffalo.
Saturday, Dec. 7, Noon to 3 p.m.: Local Author Book Fair at Fitz Books featuring over a dozen Buffalo-based writers and their books. Among the authors slated to participate are: Nishant Batsha, Tim Bohen, Alberto Cappas, Noah Falck, Chris Fritton, Betty Jean Grant, Sam Magavern, Laura Marris, Julian Montague, Michael Mulley, Trudy Stern, and Rachelle Toarmino. Saturday, Dec. 7, 7 p.m.: The Pure Ink Tapings, Part II: A Live Spoken Word Poetry Concert featuring poets Ben Brindise, Deia Elwadi, Vonetta T. Rhodes, Saranaide, Dallas Taylor, and Brandon Williamson. This is the second performance of a two part series that will be live taped, and broadcast nationally on streaming platforms as an episodic program. Early bird tickets are available now for $15.
