Buffalo Area Poetry & Literature Calendar (week of Jan. 26 to Feb. 2)

Saturday, Feb. 1, 6:30 pm to 10 pm.: Poet Ann Pedone will join the Buffalo-based artist Chango, poet Diego Espíritu, and host Thom Eichelberger-Young in LIMITED PALATTE 02, a Blue Bag Press sponsored evening of readings and performances at THE TEMP at 777 Main St. in Buffalo. Admission is free and open to the public.

About the readers and performers:

Ann Pedone is a poet and translator from the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the author of The Medea Notebooks (Etruscan Press, 2023), and The Italian Professor’s Wife, winner of the 2022 Press 53 Award for Poetry, as well as the chapbooks The Bird Happened; perhaps there is a sky we don’t know: a re-imagining of sappho; Everywhere You Put Your Mouth; Sea [break]; and DREAM/WORK.

Her poetry, non-fiction, and reviews have recently appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, Posit, Texas Review, ANMLY, and The American Journal of Poetry. She was a finalist for the 2024 Levi’s Prize. Ann is the founder and editor-in-chief of the journal and small press, αntiphony.

Chango is an omni-disciplinary artist whose practice tends to feed on the world around her . Energy leaves impressions on her that they reckon with through their work. They reference their environment in works that involve construction, fabrication, conceptualization and social practice by way of story-telling.

Diego Espíritu (b. México, 1990) is a poet, author, and educator who holds a degree in Philosophy from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and is part of the research and creation collective Arte+Ciencia of the UNAM. His work is included in the anthology Líneas en tierra: A collection of Mexican poems/ Lines in land, a collection of Mexican poems (Australia, Australian Poetry, 2019), as well as in San Diego Annual Poetry 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2019-2020. Visual poems of his have been published in Thi Wurd (Glasgow, U.K.), Jornada Internacional de Poesia Visual (Brazil), and ToCall Magazine (Germany). He is currently pursuing a literature PhD at the University at Buffalo.


Thom Eichelberger-Young (T E-Y) is an artist, publisher, editor, and mental health
caregiver living in Buffalo, New York. Their work includes the books BESPOKE
(Saint Andrews University Press, 2019), TUPELO IS A GENUS OF DECIDUOUS TREE (Blue Bag Press, 2024), and the full-length book ANTIKYTHERA published this month by Antiphony Press.
