Miers on Music: Why Music Matters with Jeff Miers —Rising star Alex McArthur and jazz legend George Caldwell

Alex McArthur and George Caldwell are in the midst of performing ‘Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill,” a recreation of Billie Holiday’s final performance, with Alex inhabiting the role of Lady Day, and George acting as Musical Director. The show at Shea’s Smith Theatre runs through Sunday (Feb. 15). Meanwhile they join Jeff Miers here to discuss Billie Holiday, jazz and America.

The show, a MusicalFare production, is running at Shea’s Smith Theatre in Buffalo’s Theatre and Entertainment District, through February 15.

Jacob Nicholson is a Buffalo based musician, music therapist, and music educator.  He has sung bass in multiple professional choirs in Central and Western New York, including the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus. Now, he performs on keyboard with multiple groups such as Ellen Pieroni and the Encyclopedia of Soul, Brass Machine, Hunks of Funk, Zak Ward and the Million Dollar Question, The 1/2 Trays, and others.  He also leads his own band, The JT Nichol Trio. This week he joins Rockabilly Greg in the Flamingo Lounge.
