CORE VALUES: Jeweltone releases ‘Visions of Heaven’ Friday at Amvets
By Benjamin Joe
Friday nights in Buffalo would be shame if not for live music from local talent.
Jeweltone is a Buffalo hardcore band featuring Nef, a vocalist coming out of hip-hop in the Queen City. The group, which also features Christian Adams on guitar and Jordan Walker on drums, will be officially releasing its EP, “Visions of Heaven” with a show at 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 25) at Amvets, 25 Review Place, Buffalo.
The title track is already streaming; you can hear it here:
Hype around the album is already growing as fans came out last weekend for more hardcore acts at Amvets. Mark Miller, Nickel City Soundtrack Podcast co-host, said that the new album is even better than the demo which was put out in 2023 (the single from that one, “Surrounded by Snakes,” is viewable on YouTube.
“It’s at least on par with their other stuff,” Miller said. “I’m a fan of it.”
Brandon Finnegan, a Buffalo hardcore show videographer, and daughter, Teagan Finnegan, also commented on the upcoming show.
“I’ve been listening to the album. I love them. They’re probably one of the coolest … they have a real unique sound and seeing them for the first time blew my mind,” Teagan Finnegan said. “I listened to the single and I really love it.”
The elder Finnegan said, “I broke my phone at Jeweltone show,” but he noted that he would be at the upcoming release for another round.
Nef also commented on the show, saying, “We’re really proud of this release and excited to have Slice, Bruiserweight and the Sissy Boys in Buffalo with us.”
Nef will also be rapping at the show as Neftali.
“I’m looking forward to rapping, too,” he said. “Hardcore and hip hop are similar in a lot of ways and it’s a privilege to show that.”
