Infringement: The End Is Nigh

I try not to be dramatic but let us discuss The Honey Room of it all.

If you’ve never been, then you need to get there. But you will need to find it! It’s located on an urban farm at an undisclosed location. (Editor’s note: One of the challenges of Infringement is sometimes finding a venue that is semi-private. The best way is usually to contact the performers for that specific performance spot … or in some cases you can just check the Infringement schedule).

The venue itself is well lit and beautifully decorated with cultural/religious artifacts and charms. The smell of Palo Santo permeated the air Friday, and the music was eclectic and experimental with performers such as the Sonic Wranglers. I loved the entire experience.

But leading up to my adventures at The Honey Room, there were plenty of poets and screen filming to get your creative juices flowing. Not only was it the eighth day of Infringement, but it was also Buffalo’s First Friday (an opening day celebration of new art exhibits). Cat’s Creations were displayed at The Intersection Cafe and John Blake recited from the “Thousand and One Nights” at Rust Belt Books.

Meanwhile at The Mothership, there were performances by the likes of Jay Aquarious, Leafy Trees and Gam3Time. In the midst of all the excitement, we got to catch up with a few performances. Infringement is all about inclusion, so the talented LGBTQIA artists showcasing their talent brought the moves, lyrics and vocal ranges to slay.

The punk and rock crowd were head banging at Milkie’s and the crooners were crooning at Hot Mama’s. Over at Nietzsche’s, country music and merch was plentiful. The accordion filled the room and I was ready for a hoedown, however, as camera woman and journalist I did my best to maintain my composure.

We’re down to the final two days of Buffalo Infringement Festival 2024. It has been beautiful chaos thus far. Full disclosure that my band Hooked on Casiophonics will be performing at Wet Dreamland and the Closing Ceremony. Go out and make quirky memories, they are the best.
