Podcast: Schulmeister, Davis put spotlight on Honeck Nite-Life Music Awards with Rockabilly Greg in the Flamingo Lounge
The Edward Honeck’s Night-Life Music Awards are a prominent event in the Western New York music scene, dedicated to honoring local bands and musicians. They were originally conceived by the late Ed Honeck, who was a major music supporter known as “Mr. Night Life” and associated with Night-life Magazine.
The awards were brought back in 2023 to honor Ed Honeck and the Buffalo music scene by Will Schulmeister. These newly formatted awards feature multiple categories, with winners selected by a combination of committee input and a public vote. Beyond celebrating music, the event serves as a charitable fundraiser, with proceeds frequently benefiting WNY Drummers for Homeless People Inc., a non-profit organization supporting homeless shelters in the region.
Will Schulmeister and Shane Davis visited the Flamingo Lounge on Oct. 2, 2025, to talk about the Awards process and the event itself, which will be at the Riviera Theatre on Nov. 6.
