The Buffalo Hive Summer Concert Calendar is here!

All of the major concerts on one page

By Elmer Ploetz

We’re thrilled to be able to offer you something new: Our Buffalo Hive Summer Concert Guide, which has listings of just about ALL of the shows happening in Buffalo and Western New York into mid-September!

It offers listings separated by date and venue, so if you want to check who’s playing at Artpark on July 17, it’s easy to find (and the answer is that it is Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue with JJ Grey & Mofro and Dumpstaphunk).  Or what shows are on June 8 (we’ve got seven listed, including Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder at Sportsmen’s Park).

The calendar is intended to spotlight touring acts and special events, so it includes all of the big shows (the Goo Goo Dolls at KeyBank Center on Aug. 9 and Luke Bryan at Darien Lake on Aug. 30, for example). But it also has smaller venues with touring acts (The Sadies at the Buffalo Iron Works on June 12) and special events with local performers (Will Holton and Daniel Powell with their Tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire at The Caz on June 13.

The page will be a work in progress all summer. Some venues haven’t announced their shows for July and August yet; they will be added. Some shows will be canceled, and we’ll try to keep on top of that. We’ll be adding links to the venues and playing with the design.

Our thanks to Artpark, by the way. They’re our newest sponsor and the sponsor of this page. Since we’re a nonprofit, we operate similarly to pubic radio and TV, on a combination of sponsorships, grants, memberships and fundraising events, so we’re grateful for their support. You can give a hand, too, by signing up for a membership.

So give the page a try. Let us know if you see any glitches! Or let us know if you love it! We don’t think there’s anything else quite like it in Western New York and we’re looking forward to adding more guides like it.
