The Mingus Dynasty Septet Performs At UB Tonight

Charles Mingus was a seminal figure in music. Aside from being one of the greatest jazz bass players, he was a prolific composer and a champion of collective improvisation. He also briefly taught music at UB in 1971.
The Mingus Dynasty was the first band Mingus’ widow Sue Mingus organized after Charles Mingus’ death in 1979, collaborating with his own sidemen to honor his life and work.
