Antje Duvekot Plays The Meeting House Friday

The Friends of Buffalo Folk Music are bringing renowned folk musician Antje Duvekot to Williamsville’s Meeting House on Friday, September 6th. It will be her first show since August 14 and her second visit to The Meeting House.

In a recent phone interview with The Hive Duvekot talked about her ties to Buffalo and cited Ani Defranco as a big influence on her songwriting. She identifies with the New England Underground folk scene, including musicians such as Ellis Paul and Anais Mitchell.

“Buffalo is always fun,” Duvekot said. “The Meeting House is a great venue and I look forward to connecting with the audience.”

Duvekot began in Boston’s folk scene 20 years ago and has garnered a national audience behind the strength of her albums “New Siberia” (2012), “Toward the Thunder” (2016) and her recently released “New Wild West” (2023). Listen to her perform “Dylan Thomas” from “New Wild West,” below.

Duvekot will be performing in the intimate space of Williamsville’s Meeting House at 5658 Main Street. John Brady will open the show. Tickets are available with cash at the door: $16 General Admission; $13 for members of Friends of Buffalo Folk Music, and $ 7 for students. More information can be found here.
