Letter from the Editor: It has been a week for theater!
By Elmer Ploetz

The calendar may say fall is a week or so away, but in Western New York you can tell that it has arrived when the theater season takes flight.
A quick look at our events calendar (filtered for the theater category) shows a season cornucopia of stage shows taking place in Buffalo, and we’re glad to have Melinda Miller out reviewing them. She’s already written about “Monsters of the American Cinema” at Buffalo United Artists, “Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier” at the Smith 710 Theatre, “Wipeout” at the Alleyway and “The Prom” at MusicalFare … and more are on the way. Thank you, Melinda!
“Curtain Up!” is the equivalent of the Buffalo Bills season opener for the theater world, and it has done a great job of highlighting the city’s outsized theatrical scene. Keep an eye on our Events Calendar for what’s playing when and where.
And if you’re a smaller community theater group that doesn’t see your production on the schedule, send us your info! You can email us at thebuffalohive@gmail.com.
Actually, you can add all single events right on our home page using this form. However, we’ve been finding that for recurring events, it’s easier if you just send the info to us by email.
Hold that date!
We’re planning our first fundraiser for Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3-7 p.m. (don’t worry, that’s a non-Bills Sunday!). Keep your calendar clear. More details will be forthcoming soon.
Website growing pains
Thanks for sticking with us through some slow loading times on our website. We’ve been working on getting that fixed and hopefully will have things firing on all cylinders.
Volunteers?
The Buffalo Hive is a group effort, but there’s always a need for more help. Right now, we’re looking for volunteers to help us build out our calendar. We’ve got a lot of events there, but there are always more to add.
If you would like to help input events from your particular interest areas, reach out to us! We’re particularly interested in various music and art scenes. Again, the contact is thebuffalohive@gmail.com.
